Alice M. From the wife of one of Hammock’s guys or something. A bit sugary at times, but also with real depth. Favorite track: How This Ends.

Gabrielemenopee It's like a snowglobe, lovingly crafted, hovering without gravity, every note suspended in a sparse cloud of ice. Lumenette takes the tones and textures which comprise many of my favorite shoegaze and post rock albums, and lovingly carves them into something fresh. There are long moments of stillness, and moments where the sound is enveloping; Christine Byrd weaves a thread between it all with a fine touch that feels always at ease even when her songs drift to unexpected places. Favorite track: Alaska.

frostiblack I was so thrilled to see the e-mail announcing this release. I bought the albums released under Christine Glass, and have loved them for years. The new record was worth the wait, and doesn't disappoint. Looking forward to getting the physical copy! Take good care. <3 Favorite track: Alaska.

Derek Chiodo There aren't many things more special to me than this album right now. This record is just ineffably precious and gorgeous. The words, the music, the meanings behind the songs... it is all so very special. I cherish your new album Christine it is just so meaningful and stunning in every way! "Deeper" and "Blue" are priceless pieces of art. I also really like your 1997 album "Human" which I consider a masterpiece as well with, "When Worlds Collide", Hold My Hand" and "Waves". Thank YOU so much! Favorite track: Deeper.

Alaska 05:01
I took a boat through Glacier Bay I was afraid to go alone I wandered onto the ledge Hoping you’d be there to watch me fall That iceberg looked so close You know how things are farther than they seem I had to reach for my coat Alaska was cold Not as cold as you You should feel right at home There, on your frozen throne Blood is trudging through your veins Your body numb to any pain Indifference is your friend He tells you in the end it’s just a game I don’t know how you got that way Alaska was cold Not as cold as you
2.
Nobody 03:45
Nobody wants to slip away Nobody tries to fade away Nobody holds nobody all the way Nobody wants to slip away You won’t know what it’s like until it gets inside of you The ease of the disease is a lullaby to you Nobody holds nobody’s lies away You won’t know what it’s like until it takes the pride of you
3.
Deeper 04:54
In my dream last night We were astronauts Floating round the earth Far away from pain Then we fell so fast To the ocean waves And we broke in two In our world again There’s no going back Deeper Deeper My new fantasy Is for you and me To steal away To some deserted place You would build a fire Cover my small frame From the howling wolves From the wind and rain But there’s no going back Deeper (If you need me I will find you) Deeper (If you give me all you have) Deeper (If you love me I will hurt you) Deeper A burden of steel is a comforting wheel But there’s no going back Deeper
4.
Off the cliff I go You should see me now High above the earth You should see me (Off the cliff I go) You should see me now This is not enough You should see me (Off the cliff I go) You should see me now Heavy to the dirt Do you see me

2000 Feet 05:40
I’ve been thinking about all the things I’ve done And yes, I’m not the only one But I’m the only one I know so well I can’t know what it’s like to hear the dragons in your mind To feel the whispers on your skin The wind is not the wind Unless you feel it This is the best that I can do I give it willingly to you This is the best that I can do Sometimes we hold each other Sometimes we hold each other down Honey we should live together 2000 feet off the ground I’ve been meditating for an hour every day But I can’t say if I’m improving Or if I’m just using it to drift away And I don’t know where it came from, But a vision filled my head Of everything as one thing And I felt no separation in this bed This is the best that I can do I give it willingly to you This is the best that I can do Sometimes we hold each other Sometimes we hold each other down Honey we should live together 2000 feet off the ground
6.
You’ve been away
 800 days
But at night I sleep just fine
Far away, alone, I comb the earth Your tree gives birth to 6000 birds When you’re away
I’m alright cause I can feel you near When you’re away
I glide on waves from there to here We close our eyes
 We breathe in time
And we heed the hallowed bell
The monks are chanting, secret messengers The children whisper tethers unheard When you’re away
I’m alright cause I can feel you near When you’re away
I glide on waves from there to here
7.
Wake Up 03:37
Put a frame around you And you become pure poetry Radiant frailties I find so graceful Your color is deep There’s nothing pale about you Wake up, wake up Look around you now I’m here and I see you Wake up, wake up I wanna shake you sometimes Sometimes I can barely hold This blistering regret I feel But I’d rather have a broken heart Than a cold one Some people don’t wanna stare At imperfections and mistakes Wake up, wake up Look around you now I’m here and I see you Wake up, wake up I wanna shake you sometimes
8.
Safe 03:25
Cold floor Warm arms Hovering, swaying Break open, spill out Safe Safe I want my... Warehouse Warm car Dying, swaying Summer, winter Break open, spill out Break open, spill out Safe Safe I want my... Safe Safe
9.
Once More 04:08
It’s never enough Never too much All that I can say Is that I must have your love Under the moon Safe in our room I can’t turn away Bright as the stars and you are More than a dream I need to be with you Once more Steady and sure Sacred and pure Every moment here I am alive By your side There’s nothing to fear When I can hear your voice Once more Once more before the night is gone Let me look into your eyes Once more
10.
And if you wanted to save me You should have saved me And if you wanted to fly You could have And when I wanted to blame you I couldn’t You know how this ends And if you wanted to save me You could have saved me And when you wanted to fly You could have You know how this ends
11.
Mayflies 04:47
They touch down Just before I sleep Threading through Tunnels of despair Piercings of grief All around my head they roam So many mayflies hold on Hold on Oh, Silence Make these spaces home Burrowing in Until light bleeds All around my head they roam So many mayflies hold on Hold on All around my head they roam So many mayflies hold on Hold on I’m afraid of the dark I’m afraid All around my head they roam So many mayflies hold on Hold on
12.
Blue 05:24
A blue moon, do you see it? Are you crying underneath it, like me? Lying in the embers and smoke Are you choking, like me? I’m tracing your features in starlight Can I hide myself in your heart? If I lose myself in the dark Will you search for me? Blue Sweetheart, are you frightened Afraid to watch me fade into black Hoping for a bellwether change Are you waiting for me? I swear I won’t stay here forever But I might not be home soon When the moon yields to the sun I will run to you Blue If I could brush away this mourning dust, I would, I would If I could forsake this misery, you know that I would, I would Blue

about

Radiant with cool and stylish energy but with love and longing at its heart, Lumenette’s debut album All Around My Head crosses between the realms of memory and dreams, morphing the past into alternate realities where new perspectives and divergent storylines emerge. From Nashville-based composer and singer Christine Byrd, whose breathy vocals linger over a mix of pop-forward instrumentation, driving beats, and ethereal washy ambiance, All Around My Head harnesses the cinematic beauty of bands like This Mortal Coil and the blurred longing of shoegaze greats like Slowdive. With a remarkable sense for hooks that grip both the ears and heart, Lumenette’s debut is an immersive journey through life’s trials and surreal blisses that will echo long after its final notes fade to silence. -Wyatt Marshall
